With the gritty attitude of Tom Waits and the honesty of long road country, New York’s CHILLEMI brings us “Neon Bride”. The former member of both Junk Boys and Organs is branching off on his own again for this work, cut from his forthcoming debut solo LP. The feigning stoic lyricism reflects a mindset of human cultures in the outskirts of town, nearly unknown by those forged in major cities. The heavy plucking of echoing strings play background high keys that seem to parenthesis the message. Listen below.

His forthcoming LP, With Woman, is out in the summer. And guess where he’s going to be next week? SXSW is hosting CHILLEMI along with Surfbort, Bambara and many more for the Cult Citizen showcase.

On the new single, CHILLEMI writes, “I mis-heard a lyric in a song I was listening to and thought a neon bride was such a great image. It got my mind turning and I pulled out my notebook and guitar and about an hour or so later there she was”
