Zulu Pearls – Magic Tricks

Zach Van Hoozer, who writers and records under the Zulu Pearls moniker, left Washington D.C. in 2009 and headed for Germany. In the midst of a scene largely focused on the various forms of electronica, Van Hoozer was instead busy putting together his own brand of bare-bones garage rock. After three years of European exile, the fruits of his labor will culminate in Zulu Pearls’ upcoming full length for Cantora Records, No Heroes No Honeymoon. The first preview of the album is “Magic Tricks,” an easygoing, surf-pop tune made to be listened to with the windows down. Check it out below.

Zulu Pearls will play in Manhattan at the Bowery Electric on July 25th and in Brooklyn at the Glasslands Gallery on July 26th. After a stop at the Golden West Cafe in Baltimore on the 28th, the Pearls will play at the Black Cat on July 29th and will open for Bear Hands at the Red Palace on August 5th.
