When the low scrape of distorted synthesizers mix with the booming, echoing drums of Wildlife‘s “Born To Ruin,” you know the Canadian five-piece have brought something big. The dirty bombast hints at something greater and it isn’t too long before fuzzy guitars burst in behind a louder, higher synth track that plays like water trickling down a cliff. It’s the perfect preamble to a song that is giant and powerful, and whose lyrics begin, “Baby, we were born to ruin.” It’s chaos, entropy and victorious disaster. It’s barely controlled recklessness chock full of riffs that harken back to the days when big guitar anthems padded every album and summer blockbuster. Stream it below.
