Under The Radar: Jeremy Messersmith
In exactly one month, a little-known Midwestern indie-popper named Jeremy Messersmith will grace the DC9 stage. If you like meticulously-constructed, dreamy power pop, then I strongly recommend attending this rocker’s June 18th concert in the District. With melodies and rhythm that recall the early rock ‘n’ roll of the Beatles (think McCartney’s bass guitar in “Day Tripper”), beautiful harmonies in the vein of the Zombies, and a seductive combination of deft finger-plucking and sweeping string arrangements that recalls Andrew Bird’s one-man-act, Messersmith’s songs are foot-tappingly infectious. Just listen, and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Agreed! And the harmonies from the Zombies to which you refer had a lot to do with Colin Blunstone, who also did vocals for Alan Parsons.
Somebody should cover the Generationals album “Actor-Caster” on this website.
Definitely hear the early rock ‘n’ roll influences in there. His music has a way of making one want to get up and dance.
