Top Tracks of the Week: 5.11.12
This week, New York’s Ghost Beach gave us a perfect summer synth jam, while Swedish duo Icona Pop dropped an infectious, euphoric club banger that’s sure to be stuck in your head for days. Emil and Friends took a stab at Neon Indian’s “Polish Girl”, and Passion Pit released the first single off their sophomore album, due out this July. Finally, Animal Collective mixed African rhythms with chaotic vocals to form the blissful “Honeycomb.”

Has anyone commented on “Take A Walk” ‘s lyrics yet? They tell a really haunting story of a life in what could be considered current times. “Honey it’s this loan I think I borrowed just to much. We had taxes we had bills. We had a lifestyle of fun. But I swear tonight I’ll come home. And we’ll make love like we’re young.” Not the kind of depth I’d expect from a band more focused on the arrangement of sound. Just brilliant.
I featured the song on a recent post…. http://icanseebetterthroughthefog.wordpress.com/2012/05/18/take-a-walk/
