Ticket Giveaway: New Noise 006
Sandy may have foiled our plans earlier this week, but no hurricane is going to hold us down for long. New Noise is scheduled to go down this Saturday, November 3rd at the Gibson Guitars DC Showroom for an extra special DC edition featuring an acoustic set from U.S. Royalty and the electro-pop stylings of up-and-comers Misun. As always, we have a pair of tickets to give away. What do you have to do to win?
We want to hear how you spent Hurricane Sandy. Did you stay in and watch every season of 24? Or were you standing shirtless on your roof shouting at the rain gods? Either way, we want to know. We’ll pick a winner by Saturday afternoon.

Hurricane Sandy taught me that every.single.board.game. can be turned into a drinking game. Especially Junior Trivial Pursuit, circa 1996 (which also taught me that I’m a GENIUS).
trees crashed. power died. fireplace warmed. wine glasses filled. (wine bottles emptied). laptop batteries died noble only-source-of-music-playing deaths.
in other words, we survived. (well. and happily)
grateful and lucky.
My boyfriend and I took a walk through Rock Creek Park on Monday afternoon before it got bad, to keep the cabin fever at bay. We got absolutely soaked but the park was beautiful. (and we weren’t the only ones! multiple people out walking, running and biking in that insane wind!) After that, it was a lot of soup, grilled cheese, kitten playtime and Hulu. I think the cat really enjoyed the storm more than anyone – he had constant human scratching posts and playmates whenever he wanted. Loved the four-day weekend…wish it had been as easy for everyone else on the coast, though.
I tried to keep dry but my basement flooded and power went out. After 6 hours without power, my date with the wet-vac was next to dry up the basement. Seriously, would like to spend this Saturday at the Gibson with a good friend enjoying music.

We ended up becoming the Hurricane Party House for all our friends. We did some cooking– pecan pie, crepes and pumpkin cookies– and played multiple games of spades. The highlight of the night was watching the Nazi zombie thriller, Dead Snow.
