The Reflections – Summer Days
Why is it that people from LA want to talk about the weather all the time? It’s always “80 degrees and sunny” this and “the poolboy just made a new batch of piña coladas” that. Not my style. I love the changing of the seasons: the swampy summer air giving way to a brisk chill; leaves slowdancing with the air; pumpkin spice flirting with my nose…for about an hour, before plummeting into the depths of winter, where “daylight” is a distant memory and Jack Frost’s icy breath wrestles its way through the windows and down to your very core. Wait, I think LA might be onto something.
Fortunately, SoCal natives The Reflections have sent over an LA-shaped slice of heaven just in time for the holidays. The band consists of buddies Darian Zahedi, Jon Safley and Brady Wills, who recently finished up their debut album, Limerence, under the tutelage of producer Kenny Woods (Vampire Weekend, Lykke Li). Limerence is set to be released in early 2013, but you can start getting acquainted with their upbeat chillwave in “Summer Days.” The video perfectly captures their carefree vibe, but be warned: You may find yourself booking a ticket to LA before you know what’s happening. Here, this will help. All I ask for in return is a piña colada.
