Since the first Noisettes release in 2003 the band has made a habit of slipping between different musical styles. The group has ably tackled punk, garage, and straightforward power rock. They’ve donned the dark cloaks of vaudevillians and adopted the soft sensibilities of balladeers, but of all the song styles that lead vocalist Shingai Shoniwa has tried on, soul has always fit her best. “That Girl” is the latest single off the Noisette’s upcoming album, Contact, and utilizes the full range and richness of Shoniwa’s voice, supporting it with sweet and peppy 60s pop. Contact is due out August 27th.
