The National are back with a new song that is featured on the soundtrack of Portal 2, the much-anticipated sequel to 2007′s best-selling puzzle-driven video game from Valve. The original–which I played way too much of–was gloomy and mesmerizing, words often used to describe Matt Berninger’s voice, so the two seem to be a perfect fit. According to a band spokesperson, The National’s “raw and emotive music evokes the same visceral reactions from its listeners that Portal does from its players,” so, yeah, this sounds like it’s going to be awesome. Have a listen to “Exile Vilify” and start portal-hopping, bro.
