What happens when you take the haunting voices of The Flaming Lips‘ Wayne Coyne and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, add some off-kilter guitars and back it all up with a marching drum line? You get “Ashes in the Air”.

“Ashes In The Air” is a six minute epic–because neither artist can make a song under five minutes–that combines the indecipherable with the otherworldly. While I can’t say the lyrics will ever make sense to me, this is a welcome experiment that I hope to see more of in the future.
