Supplemental Music History:
The Plimsouls
I know you guys and gals are already really busy getting educated with Jerry–he assigns a lot of homework from what I hear. But I thought I’d sneak in and offer some side-listening, some extra credit if you will. I just discovered a mostly overlooked retro garage rock band called the Plimsouls from the annals of musical history. And I can’t get enough of their debut album, released in 1981. It’s like Americanized Brit-post-punk; it’s like edgier Squeeze; it’s jangly college rock from the West coast, and it’s awesome. Here are some excellent tracks off the previously mentioned debut self-titled record to whet your appetite. Enjoy.

More homework. If you like Plimsouls — and I do — then you’ll also like The Knack. Both groups come from LA and from around the same time. Find My Sharona and listen….
