Another week, another post on some seriously catchy Aussie synthpop. Last week it was Clubfeet. This time it’s fellow Melbournians Strange Talk, who have a brand new video to accompany their upbeat pop smash, “Cast Away.”

“Cast Away” is the first track we’ve heard from Strange Talk’s upcoming debut LP, and it displays an even more refined pop sensibility than anything they’ve released before. The song is built around big, hooky synths, a heavy nu-disco beat and an infectious falsetto chorus. It comes with a nice video directed by Phillip Sage (Nike, Sol Beer, Miami Horror) that features epic performance shots – lead singer Stephen Docker could give Rick Astley a run for his money – intercut with Spielbergian montages of kids on bikes making the best of their childhoods. Also, crystals. Because why not. Expect Strange Talk’s debut full-length sometime in early 2013.
