Canadian five-piece Stars has been putting out some of the best electronic-tinged indie-pop for years, and their new track, “The Theory of Relativity” is the group’s most electronic-leaning song since the 2003 album, Heart. The first 25 seconds are a full-on EDM preamble, and synth boards and drum machines fill out the rest. As always, Torquil Campbell’s low, smoky vocals plays well with Amy Milan’s higher, spritely pipes. This song is way more synthesized than Stars’ work over last eight years, but for fans of the group’s first two albums, this will sound like a return to form.
“The Theory of Relativity” is off of the band’s upcoming album, The North, out on September 4th via ATO records.
