Reptar – Houseboat Babies
ATG darlings Reptar have released an expectedly quirky video for “Houseboat Babies”, the second single off their debut LP, Body Faucet. “Houseboat Babies” was the only song to make the move over from their excellent EP, Oblangle Fizz Y’all, and it’s easy to see why they felt it was worth reworking. The song itself is a lovely ballad to the act of getting busy, with suggestive lines like “I’m getting so much better with my hands on your skin” delivered in lead-singer Graham Ulicny’s patented eccentric style as a head-bobbing drumbeat and cheerful guitar riff keep everything playful.
The video is as weird as you would expect from these Athens, Georgia natives (who make a nice cameo at the end). It’s a surreal, undecipherable mix of scenes featuring a cast of glowing-eyed dogs and their strange owner. What matters though is that everyone’s all smiles at the end and, as the outro reminds us, “all we want in life are big warm beds and a climax in our heads.”

I wish they hadn’t changed the song so much for the record. I know it sounds cliche, but the “demo” or EP version (can’t remember) is better… in my opinion. Still a good track though.
AGREED
