I’m a huge Suckers fan. So much so that I’ve been trying to bring them down to DC for a show for well over 6 months. Unfortunately for me, there has always been a scheduling conflict. Fortunately for all of us, Monument Presents was able to snag the Brooklyn 4-piece for a show this Thursday night at DC9! Suckers released one of my favorite albums of 2010, Wild Smile, and have presumably been in the studio for much of 2011 working on a follow-up (while not touring with Mates Of State or the Klaxons). The band combines Bowie-esque vibes with Eno styled production – creating great mood music. Their live show is super engaging and has, at times, including face paint, bells and whistles. The concert also features support from Chairlift spin-off Rewards, Lagunitas beer specials and will benefit local nonprofit Common Good City Farm. It’s kind of a win/win situation.
