NGHBRS, Long Island’s purveyors of gripping and soulful rock, are gearing up for the release of their debut LP, Twenty One Rooms, recorded at William Cullen Bryant’s Cedarmere Estate. Slated for release July 16th via Paper + Plastick Records, Twenty One Rooms is the follow-up their Hellomind EP, building upon the musically solid and versatile foundation laid by the band in 2010. If the EP told us anything, it’s that NGHBRS has a knack for the serene and raucous, the ability to be simultaneously evocative and energizing while refusing to let their style stagnate.

“1990” proves the band has not deteriorated since 2010, and instead has spent that time honing in on its sound. The song takes the form of a ballad with powerful vocal deliveries complemented by quirky guitar work. An impressive showcase of musicianship, “1990” is striking and channels William Cullen Bryant’s self-awareness: “I’m guilty of following the sun.” NGHBRS know their goals are by no means easy to attain, but that doesn’t mean they’ll give up.
