Psych-rockers of Montreal recently released their re-vamped version of “Feminine Effects,” the third cut from the band’s upcoming rarities collection, Daughter of Cloud. “Feminine Effects” was first introduced in 2008 with band leader Kevin Barnes singing over a simple piano line. Trading Barnes’ tenuous, haunting vocals for Rebecca Cash’s unbelievably smooth alto, this version of the tune has a slow, alt-country feel. The new “Feminine Effects” may sound completely different than the original, but it retains the beautiful eeriness that made the band famous. Daughter of Cloud is due October 23 via Polyvinyl.
