You may remember MNDR, AKA Ms. Amanda Warner’s, leather-clad body writhing around on stage at All Things Gold 003 back in September. If so, you’ll be glad to hear she is back with the new single “#1 in Heaven” and its corresponding video, which perfectly captures the flashy weirdness of the live show. The song reportedly draws inspiration from Patty Hearst, one of the first known sufferers of Stockholm Syndrome who gained notoriety after  joining her kidnappers in a deadly bank robbery. And who later went on to play the mom in Bio Dome, but we won’t talk about that.

Warner infuses the song with Hearst’s actual words; the line, “tell them I am smiling and send my greetings,” comes from Hearst’s only press statement following her post-robbery arrest. The video, bouncing around between 80′s and 90′s production techniques, feels like it’s traveling through time–or more precisely, writhing and pouting through time. Warner (who, by the way, is from North Dakota of all places) knows why we can’t take our eyes off her, and gives it to us 100%.
