Lord Huron has been getting a good amount of press in the last few months, and for good reason. The L.A. based five-piece is on the cusp of releasing an album chock full of rich, lush, beautiful, folk-tinged rock songs. Straight-ahead toe-tapping at points and downright orchestral at others, debut album Lonesome Dreams looks to be one of the better records of the second half of 2012. “Brother” is the album’s ninth track, a four minute ode to lifelong friendship and the deep connections that grow along with it. All of the instruments – the quietly picked guitar, the booming drums – are flourishes highlighting frontman Ben Schneider’s low, humble crooning. The music rises between verses rolling toward a touching finish of bent notes and stuttering beats as Schneider repeatedly sings, “Don’t turn away, don’t tell me that we’re not the same. We face the fire together, brothers till the end. Don’t run away, our time will come but not today. I’ll stand beside you brother, with you till the end.”

Lonesome Dreams comes out October 9th on I am Sound.
