Smiles were all abound as Architecture in Helsinki performed a lively set to a sold-out crowd at Black Cat last Saturday night.  With the group’s more recent disco influences, I just couldn’t shake the B-52s comparison in both style and sound. Their upbeat attitude was infectious and adorable as the Aussies wooed us with a collection of their greatest hits, old and new.  You just couldn’t help but feel a little giddy.

While Hooray for Earth diverged from Architectures’ candor and affection, they started the night off nicely with their drum-heavy synth rock.  A little experimental electronics and distortion coupled with some catchy melodies left our ears ringing with delight.

Make sure to check out some more pictures from the show after the jump.
