Jens Lekman – Become Someone Else’s
No singer-songwriter pontificates as superbly on postmodern love as Jens Lekman. And while his latest collection of songs, I Know What Love Isn’t, is mostly a break-up album, it’s still delightful as ever. Like a Burt Bacharach in skinny jeans, Lekman beautifully marries sprightly piano lines, understated guitar plucks, and a kiss of Andrew Bird-like strings into simple but captivating pop songs. However, Lekman’s real genius is his lyrical dynamism; his words are simultaneously imaginative and literal, playful and sad, witty and sincere. Look no further than the tongue-in-cheek “Become Someone Elses,” which you can watch in video form above.
Jens Lekman’s I Know What Love Isn’t is out now on Secretly Canadian.
