Axolotl‘s “My House” is a carefully crafted piece of noir pop. The first thing you’ll notice when listening to the latest track from the Melbourne five-piece are Ella Thompson’s vocals. Few singers can compare to her range, both in note and tone, and though you could easily draw comparisons to Malin Dählstrom, Lykke Li and Kimbra, that is quite good company to keep. On top of that, Thompson’s vocals interact with the instrumentals in the same captivating way as HAERTS, feeling at once vintage and new. From the sound of this and last year’s dreamy Autonomy EP, Axolotl is capable of great things. Get to know them now and stream “My House” below.
