Passion Pit – Moth’s Wings (Artec Remix)

Remember back in the day when Passion Pit remixes were a dime a dozen? Seemed you couldn’t walk anywhere without stepping on somebody’s new version of “Sleepyhead.” Artec decided to let the buzz die down and wait a whole half-decade before creating his take on Manners standout “Moth’s Wings.” The Miami producer gives the track a bit more life with this uplifting throwback electro-pop reimagination. Give it a listen below.

Nelly – Ride Wit Me (Viceroy Jet Life Remix)

nelly ride wit me viceroy remix

Viceroy is at it again with his Jet Life remix series, this time taking on Nelly’s “Ride Wit Me” (known for the seminal lyrics: “HEYYYY / must be the money”). The bouncy, bright rework makes summer an almost instead of an eventual, and even comes with its own hashtag: #summertimetimeallthetime. That’s the kind of promise we can all get behind while outlasting showers and flowers until we finally hit SUNSHINE. Stream the track below if you’re feeling eighteen, eighteen with an attitude, and keep it in your back pocket for your Memorial Day playlists.

And if you still can’t get enough, Viceroy will also be playing Union BBQ, U Street Music Hall’s all-day electronic music/barbecue fest at Union Market on June 14th.

The Knocks – Comfortable (Lightwaves Remix)

Lightwaves take a break from the usual uplifting synth-pop with a brand new remix for The Knocks’ “Comfortable.” The DC outfit goes full nu-disco here, replacing that deep bass with bright, funky guitars. It’s a fresh take on the original that’s just as danceable. Give it a listen below.

Justin Timberlake – TKO (Lido Remix)

After recently dispelling rumors that Cashmere Cat and Trippy Turtle were the same person (alliterative animal monikers from Norway — a valid conspiracy), up-and-coming Norwegian producer Lido has sparked a new niche-conspiracy in the Jersey Club community that he is in fact Trippy Turtle. True or not, there’s plenty of stylistic symmetry. Lido, whose remix work has been included on EP’s by Cashmere Cat and Mad Decent’s Liz, returned last week for only his third production, a Jersey Club remix of Justin Timberlake’s “TKO” from last year’s The 20/20 Experience. While there are no signature bedsqueak or “fofofadi” drops found here, the remix unravels with the same gospel-y, upbeat take that many European and Australian producers have on the genre (as opposed to original Jersey dons like Sliink and Nadus who often take things into dark, aggressively sexual territory).

Olympic Ayres – Take Flight

Sydney duo Olympic Ayres are definitely dialed in right now. Last year they brought the indie dance heat with their Episode III EP, which featured “Magic”, a track so rad it made its way onto the FIFA 2014 soundtrackToday, they pick up right where they left off with “Take Flight,” a feel-good toe-tapper that will get you dancing in your chair. It may even inspire you to break out into dance in the middle of your office, if that’s your M.O. Give it a listen below.

“Flight” will appear on Olympic Ayres’ Leisureplex EP, due out later this year.

RAC – Tear You Down (Ft. Alex Ebert)

Those following the Remix Artist Collective have no doubt been following news of the upcoming two-part album Strangers with great interest. Two weeks ago RAC unveiled “Repeating Motion” from Part 2 as a free download from the Web site, and today fans get a listen from Part 1. “Tear You Down” features vocals from Alex Ebert (of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros fame) and easygoing, catchy rhythms. Ebert’s presence makes the song more down home than I expected, but as his style melds with the quick synthy beats, the track that emerges is one full of bright days, sunglasses, convertibles and lazy summers. It’s a tune built for driving for sure, and for dancing, and for sipping cool drinks on hot days. Stream it below.

RAC’s Strangers Part 1 comes out March 1st via Cherrytree/Interscope.

The Knocks – Dreaming

The Knocks drop the final piece of the Comfortable puzzle with “Dreaming.” The EP closer shows the NY duo in classic form, using swelling beats and explosive synths (plus some Daft Punk-style vocal effects) to craft some more of that dance music we’ve come to love over the years. Stream it below and make sure to grab a copy of their Comfortable EP, out now via Neon Gold.
