By releasing the uncut version of “Medusa”, GEMS lift a veil that we never knew existed, revealing two additional minutes that originally opened the song we already know and love. The clip that didn’t make the final cut differs from the rest, but it provides a musical and lyrical backdrop that had been missing before. There’s more apparent interplay between GEMS’ Cliff Usher and Lindsay Pitts, something that’s visible in their live show, yet harder to discern when Lindsay handles much of the vocals on recordings. Now that GEMS have shared another hint of how to take on “Medusa,” I have a hunch that the conversation about one of 2013′s most talked-about tracks is about to restart.
