Freelance Whales – Locked Away
Freelance Whales return to the spotlight with the release of “Locked Away”, the lead track off the band’s upcoming sophomore record, Diluvia. The song continues the band’s evolution into more mature territory after stand alone singles, “Day Off” and “Enzymes”. The melodies of Judah Dadone here are expansive and full of deserving life. Sure, it’s still romantic and uplifting, but it feels so much more rewarding listening to this, as we start heading to the twilight of Summer. If the line, “We have the rations to go anywhere”, doesn’t give you last minute motivation to go on a guilt-free road trip, than I don’t know what will. While Weathervanes was a very enjoyable record, sometimes the music would caught in all the cuteness and preciousness of it’s atmosphere. Judging by this, we should have no fear of that anytime soon with these Queens standouts. Diluvia will be out 10/9 via Mom + Pop/Frenchkiss.

This, is what I’m talking about! Glad they’re back and adding depth to their sound. Too bad we have to wait around until Oct.
