In an act of passionate label-on-label love, Polarsets — who not long ago released their fantastic Morning 7″ on Neon Gold Records — have gone ahead and remixed the second single to come out of our ATG Records imprint, Mausi‘s “sol.” The remix warps the track, fitting it to a pulsating tropical dance beat not unlike the one found in Polarsets’ “Morning” and “Sunset.” Next time you find yourself dancing on the beach into the wee hours of the morning, make sure you fit this one onto your playlist.

The last time we saw CSLSX, they had crept their way onto 2010′s ATG Goodbye Summer Mixtape with their infectious “Futuretapes,” though in reality that track had been dominating our iTunes long before then. Recently, the Philly-based group have recruited Mountain Man to join along for their newest track. “Aeromancer” is a fuzzy electropop track that defies convention, transitioning from moody 80′s dreampop to ambient and abstract territory with ease–like Animal Collective with Paula Abdul’s drum kits. February’s approaching, so you know what that means: time to get ready for another All Things Gold. This month we’re very excited to team up with Neon Gold Records to bring you some artists that we’ve been spinning at ATG HQ for a while now. Headlining the live stage we’ve got England’s Summer Camp. Leave it to a band from across the pond to channel the warmth and energy of a Californian summer better than anybody stateside. Summer Camp is bright synth-pop at it’s finest, which goes just swimmingly with their openers, Ghost Beach. This Brookyln electro-pop duo knows how to hit all the right notes and will bring an explosive start to the night. At the other side of the room we have DJ-producer extraordinaire Gigamesh – who’s synthy stylings have been no stranger to ATG’s pages — manning the decks. Told you we’d come into 2012 with guns blazing.

Every year for a hot couple of years I’ve been biting my nails waiting for Yukon Blonde to stumble into global public consciousness, yet every year they remain criminally underexposed outside their home country of Canada. But January is upon us again, and my nailbeds are worse for the wear thanks to their latest single “Stairway” off the upcoming LP Tiger Talk, due out this March. They’ve descended from their indie folk mountain into the valley of riffs and AnCo-esque oOooOos, and I have zero complaints about it. Watch out, 2012.

PAPA‘s EP, A Good Woman Is Hard To Find, can certainly stand on its own; it’s been well-received by critics everywhere and has helped propel the band’s popularity in the chattering blogosphere. But that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with somebody else taking “I Am The Lion King” — a fantastic track off the release — and making it a bit “dance-ier.” In comes St. Lucia. Fresh off announcing they would be releasing an LP with Neon Gold Records, the New Noise and All Things Gold alumnus transforms the indie rock jam into a killer remix. St. Lucia’s take amplifies the high-end guitar of the original and gives it a tropical, synth-pop treatment, adding in airy wind chimes and dreamy background keys. And just wait for the acoustic guitar breakdown. You’ll feel like you’re floating.

The Swedes are coming! The Swedes are coming!

On March 27, your eardrums are in for a sweet surprise with the release of everyone’s favorite Swedish trio Miike Snow‘s new album, Happy to You. The guys just put out their latest single, “Black Tin Box”, which features fellow compatriot Lykke Li. As you probably can imagine from the title, the song is dark. Very dark. The drums are muffled, the vocals are haunted, the synths are pushed through a strange, otherworldly filter. You can certainly see this as the background music for a slow-motion chase scene in a horror movie. The lyrics match the mood of the song, featuring rounds of “black sheep”, “the edges were sharp” and a “hillside where they used to play”. While this isn’t as fun or upbeat as “Devil’s Work” or “Paddling Out”, it shows the extent of the trio’s range and expansion of their repertoire. LA-based production duo Oliver has been on our radar recently and has crafted another hit with their remix of Childish Gambino’s “Heartbeat.” I’ve never given Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, a good listen before, mostly because I’m the biggest skeptic whenever hip-hop flirts with electro. I’m also ardently devoted to Spank Rock and shun all others as imitators, which is probably not a good stance to take when listening to new music. This remix, however, has definitely made me take a second look at CG and I’m not disappointed. The original “Heartbeat” features yearnful lyrics over a Justice-esque electronic beat. Oliver slows it down and makes the track funky by adding a dirty bass line. Both Childish Gambino and Oliver are coming off hot releases, so I’m excited to see what 2012 has in store for both Camps. Pun intended.

Plastic Plates is a DJ who has the unique ability to make me dance regardless of the situation–in my chair at work, in my car, on the elliptical–you get the idea.  The LA-via-Australia producer has just put out an original called “Toys,” which is making me all sorts of nostalgic for a west coast summer. “Toys” has a subtle 80′s feel backed by layers upon layers of synth that really shine on this nu-disco track. Make sure to catch him on tour — he knows how to get a summer pool party moving.
