Dawes – If I Wanted Someone
Dawes has received plenty of well-warranted buzz in the last few months. With catchy lyrics and sweet harmonies, North Hills is an album you can listen to front to back. Released in 2009 by ATO Records, the album is still making its way around the globe and attracting new fans for the band. Robbie Robertson (of The Band fame) recently picked up the L.A. folk rockers as his backing band and there’s a simple reason: they rock live. I have seen them at 9:30 Club and Rock & Roll Hotel, delivering guitar solos and breakdowns that make your head turn on each occasion.
If there is one song that has shifted my paradigm on the argument over fate and free will (yes, I just got heavy), it would be “When My Time Comes”. It showcases the musical prowess of lead singer Taylor Goldsmith and it keeps you thinking long after you’re done listening. They have a new album coming out on June 7th titled Nothing is Wrong and the new free single “If I Wanted Someone” is quintessential Dawes. This is definitely going to be one of the top albums of the summer.
