In an interview about her upcoming full length album, British goth pop starlet Charlotte Aitchison attempts to explain the concept behind her performance alias Charli XCX, saying, “that’s what Charli XCX is all about: creating a world to get into.” The video for her latest single, “You’re The One,” gives us a peek into this world in her head. An empty warehouse is brought to life with lights, costume changes, hearts, and a clan of little raver girls draped in attitude and leather–perhaps an allusion to Aitchison’s roots as a 14-year old taking over the underground UK rave scene.

In the same interview, Charli XCX discusses some of the challenges she’s been facing getting the album together, including the apparent regular realization that she and producer Ariel Rechtshaid need to drop everything and go buy soap and/or tequila shotguns. Fortunately, they’re pulling it together and plan to have the still unnamed album out by October. In the meantime, load up your tequila shotgun and check out her recently released EP.
