Playlist: Hurricane Sandy

Good morning. Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world, and you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. Mankind, that word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can’t be consumed by our petty differences any more. We will be united in our common interest. Perhaps it’s fate that today is October 29th, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom. Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution, but from annihilation. We’re fighting for our right to live, to exist and should we win the day, Hurricane Sandy will no longer be known as an American Hurricane, but as the Hurricane when the world declared in one voice, ‘We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on, we’re going to survive.’

RDL recently released “Global Concepts,” an aptly-titled track infused with rhythmic Moombahton-esque percussion, reverberating synths, and an utterly massive chorus. Top Tracks of the Week: 6.15.12

This week, Oxford’s Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs leaned heavy on the synth and handclaps, and Foxygen are proving that they’re worthy of recent buzz with a fuzzy 60′s throwback. Down-under indie darlings Van She drop another new wave single from their upcoming album, while Los Campesinos! covered fellow UK natives The Beautiful South. Rounding things out, A Place to Bury Strangers come back with a noisy vengeance on their second album this year.
