We’ve been big fans of California Wives since “Blood Red Youth” hit our ears two years ago. Since then the Chicago four-piece has taken big strides towards indie stardom, signing to Vagrant Records this past May. Four months later the band released their debut full-length, Art History, with the label. The album contains plenty of new tracks plus re-recordings of some songs that appeared on 2010′s Affair EP, including the aforementioned “Blood Red Youth” and the band’s latest single, “Purple.” California Wives teamed up with Sharpie to incorporate fan artwork into the bright indie-pop jam’s video, which premiered a few weeks ago during the the MTV Video Music Awards. Watch it above.
Catch California Wives opening for labelmates Stars this Sunday, September 23rd at the 9:30 Club. The band goes on at 8pm so get there early. You won’t want to miss it.
