Pardon me while I hop into my hyperbolic chamber to discuss the debut track, “Woman,” from California-based pop-savants Bom Bom. “Woman”  borrows the best parts of Motown soul melodies and 2012′s ‘strong-woman’ pop, striking a perfect balance between old- and new-school. Sophie Stern, who is part of the Dr. Luke ghostwriting/production family (and has a Britney Spears track on her credits), somehow managed to channel Lil’ Mama, Diana Ross, and Alex Winston seamlessly, all while crooning over a beat that sounds like the perfect combination of Dizzee Rascal and power-pop (that piano line slays me). In short, “Woman” has wrapped all of my favorite parts of pop music since the 1960′s into a neat little package, and does so with such flair that you can’t help but be wowed. Move over Shania Twain; Bom Bom makes me feel like a woman now, and I’m uncomfortably okay with it.
