Bloc Party’s video for “Octopus,” the first single off the band’s long-awaited album Four, features ribbon dancing and hula-hoops, yet somehow manages not to be lame. That’s probably because these British dance-rockers are way cooler than you or I can ever hope to be. Along with the aforementioned gymnastics, “Octopus” features rapid-shot close-ups of random hipsters, frontman Kele Okereke smirking at the camera, and the band rocking out in a warehouse. The song’s manic intricacy is intensified by flashing colors that would make Rainbow Bright jealous. After four years of a Bloc Party-less music scene, I’m willing to deal with the epilepsy caused by watching this video on repeat. Four drops August 21 via Frenchkiss Records.
