Mikky Ekko – Kids

Mikky Ekko‘s “Kids” should be the soundtrack to your every waking moment. The Louisiana producer has decided to go all uplifting-indie-pop-anthem with his latest single, which premiered this past Sunday on HBO’s True Blood. Produced by Benny Blanco and John Hill, the track packs enough inspiration to make brushing your teeth feel like the most meaningful experience of your life. And we can only hope it’ll make the commercial rounds. “Kids” will make those Levi’s jeans fit all the more snugger, those Victoria’s Secret panties look all the more sexier, and that Taco Bell gordita taste all the more fourth meal. Stream it below.

PREMIERE: Pretty Heart – Toy (Sacred Animals Remix)

cover_3-fixed

Darragh Nolan (Sacred Animals) is a rising name in the remix game, having already whipped up indie-experimental spins on tracks from Twin Shadow, Young Wonder, House of Wolves and more. His latest finds the Wexford-based producer reworking Pretty Heart‘s gorgeous entrancing single “Toy.” Nolan’s take on the track sounds a bit less brooding than the original, chopping Morgan Holliger’s vocals over dreamy toybox synths and percussion. Stream it below.

Sacred Animals’ remix of “Toy” will appear on his upcoming rework album, Versus.

INTRODUCING: Black Atlass

Black Atlass is the latest producer wünderkind to come from up north. Né Alex Fleming, the 18 year old London, Ontario artist is a newly minted member of the Fools Good family, so he must be doing something right. His debut self-titled EP is a fantastic six-track collection of moody electro-soul. The latest highlight from the release is “Paris,” a fuzzy, piano-driven track that sounds like a chopped up version of fellow Canadians Arcade Fire. Now that we think of it, his voice sounds a bit like Win Butler too. You can watch the new monochrome video for “Paris” above or stream it by itself below. If you want to hear more, check out the rest of the Black Atlass EP here.

Postiljonen – On The Run

Rarely, if ever, has a movie’s soundtrack come to characterize a subgenre as much as Drive‘s has. Any artist looking to make a name in balearic dream pop has to meet the standards of this collection, namely College’s defining piece, “A Real Hero (Ft. Electric Youth).” Sweden’s Postiljonen would have no problem breaking into the Drive club, especially with their latest track “On The Run.” The synths and airy vocals are all there, so much so that “On The Run” sounds better suited for the films we see in our sleep than a Gosling motorcycle flick. Close your eyes and get lost in this one. Stream “On The Run” below.

VIDEO PREMIERE: Belle Mare – Buzzsession

Whereas most dream-pop looks to take you into the clouds using twinkling synths and other-worldly instrumentation, Belle Mare’s strand is of a whole other variety. The Brooklyn five-piece opts for a more minimalist approach, using restrained guitar and piano to transport the listener to a dream world of their own. If it had to be boiled down to one word, Belle Mare’s sound would be “vintage”; close your eyes during “The City” and you’ll find yourself sitting in the sand on an overcast day while the The Boat Of The Fragile Mind EP track plays through an aged gramophone by your side. It’s no brochure vacation, but there’s still something beautiful about it. “All This Time” is not much different, bringing a little energy into the mix with drums.

Both tracks were recorded on video as part of Belle Mare’s recent Buzzsession with The Wild Honey Pie at the legendary Electric Lady Studios with Ben Baptie on engineer/mixing duties. We’re excited to be premiering both on ATG today. You can check out the clip for “The City” above as well as “All This Time” after the jump. You can also grab a free download of Belle Mare’s The Boat Of The Fragile Mind EP over at the Wild Honey Pie. Click here.
