Los Angeles-based American Royalty (not to be confused with D.C.’s US Royalty) have been making waves here on the west coast for the past year or so.  They have been described as “an impossible cross between The Black Keys and Boys Noize,” which does more to demonstrate how unique they are than to actually explain their sound.  American Royalty boast one of the better live shows I’ve seen and their growth, both in exposure and sound, they’ve experienced since I first came across them is impressive.  Their new video for “Matchstick” features Brooklyn-based artist, Jeff Scher, and it is quite lovely.
