I was at Bonnaroo a couple weekends ago and found out about Alberta Cross on the drive down. My first thought was, “Why the hell did my friends not tell me about them sooner?” and my second thought was, “They are going to be incredible live”. I still have not gotten an adequate answer on why my compadres were holding back on me, but I can tell you they killed it live. ATG posted about them back in 2007 – after the release of their first mini-album The Thief & the Heartbreaker, but it’s time to get reacquainted.

Their most recent album is 2009′s Broken Side of Time, released by ARK Recordings.  On that record the band flat-out rock with songs like “ATX” and easily pivot to ballad-style admonitions as evidenced on “Old Man Chicago” – a song is filled with long, poignant wails by lead singer Petter Ericson Stakee. It’s that kind of versatility that made their live show at Bonnaroo so memorable.
